First Book Philly

New books for children in need

First Book-Philadelphia is an educational/literacy non-profit that provides new books to children in need.

First Book-Philadelphia makes grants to pre-schools, charter schools, high schools and community initiatives, enabling them to purchase 6 to 12 books a year for each child--building mini-libraries in homes that frequently have no other access to books.

In 2011, First Book Philly donated 28,816 books to children in programs from pre-k through high school, a 20% increase over 2010. In 2012, we are looking to increase that amount by another 20%.
